University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce Welcomes Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade to Strengthen Trade and Education Cooperation amid Global Economic Uncertainties
University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC), led by Dr. Poj Aramwattananont, Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Trade of Thailand, together with Associate Professor Dr. Thanavath Phonvichai, President of UTCC, officially welcomed H.E. Mr. Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, and his delegation during their visit to the university on Tuesday, 3 February 2026. The visit aimed to discuss avenues for enhancing cooperation in trade, investment, and education between Thailand and Hungary.

H.E. Mr. Péter Szijjártó delivered a special keynote address entitled “Hungarian Perspectives on Connectivity and Security Challenges amidst Global Economic Uncertainties” to UTCC students, faculty members, and university executives. In his address, he shared in-depth perspectives on the current global economic and business landscape, which is facing increasing uncertainty driven by economic, political, energy-related, and employment challenges. He emphasized the importance of international connectivity and cooperation in fostering long-term economic stability and sustainable opportunities.

The Hungarian Minister also highlighted the role of the Thai Chamber of Commerce in expanding international business opportunities, noting that the strong network of the Thai Chamber of Commerce and UTCC serves as a vital mechanism for effectively linking the education sector with the business community. He expressed his intention to further strengthen collaboration with UTCC in education and human capital development in the future.

Furthermore, H.E. Mr. Péter Szijjártó reaffirmed the close and longstanding relationship between Thailand and Hungary, particularly in the area of education. He welcomed expanded academic collaboration with leading Hungarian institutions, including the University of Miskolc, and expressed his appreciation for the signing of the Letter of Intent (LOI) between the University of Miskolc and the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce. He described the agreement as an honor and an important milestone in advancing bilateral educational cooperation, paving the way for future student and faculty exchanges as well as joint curriculum development.

The visit underscores UTCC’s role as a leading university in business and international trade, committed to serving as a hub for global collaboration and to creating new international opportunities for Thai students on the global stage.
